Announcing the 2025 Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair in Asheville, NC

Announcing Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair in Asheville, NC in 2025.

Mark your calendar for the 2025 Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair (ACAB), September 27th and 28th on Cherokee land in Asheville, NC.

Over the course of five years (plus a pandemic interruption), ACAB has grown far beyond our initial aspirations, with each iteration more ambitious than the last. At the end of the 2024 bookfair, we reflected on how—without intention—the bookfair had become a national gathering, anticipated and attended by comrades living thousands of miles away.

While this is a source of joy for us, the scale also complicates our collective efforts. We quietly joked about “degrowthing” the bookfair, subverting the more-is-better assumption of endless expansion; but after Hurricane Helene, it truly became necessary for us as organizers to envision a lighter, more regionally responsive bookfair.*

In 2025, we intend to focus on the unique contributions organizers, thinkers, and actionists living in the South and Appalachia can bring to anarchist and autonomous movements. We invite comrades in the region to gather for a weekend to nourish our connections and stoke our resistance in the struggles that lay before and ahead of us.

Falling on the one-year anniversary of the historic storm that laid waste to these mountains, we invoke this iteration of ACAB as an opportunity to reflect on the lessons learned from a year of responding to both ecological disaster and the ongoing disasters of racial capitalism, settler colonialism, and state power. How can anarchism provide a compass for building the worlds we desire as forces of oppression tighten and the pace of collapse escalates?

Please plan to bring good ideas, good friends, and good trouble!

* ACAB remains an event that welcomes attendees from anywhere, we just want to be clear that the gathering we’re planning in 2025 will be more modest in scale, with content largely tailored to our region.

Historic Louisiana plantation house destroyed in massive fire – Iberville, LA

A devastating fire destroyed the Louisiana’s historic Nottoway Resort, the largest antebellum mansion in the South, officials confirmed Friday.

“The fire has been contained now, but there’s no more Nottoway. The house is completely destroyed.

Iberville Parish President Chris Daigle highlighted the mansion’s historical significance of the loss.

“Nottoway was not only the largest remaining antebellum mansion in the South but also a symbol of both the grandeur and the deep complexities of our region’s past,” Daigle said.

He noted that it was built in 1859 and had been open to visitors since the ’80s.

Jailbreak – New Orleans, LA

May 16, 2025

Nine inmates escaped a jail in New Orleans and remain on the loose as authorities investigate whether any guards were in on the jailbreak plot.

A total of 10 inmates escaped from jail in Orleans Parish at around 1 a.m. on Friday, Sheriff Susan Hutson told reporters. One inmate was caught in the French Quarter but the other nine men remain on the run.

Officials suspect the group had help from jail staff: “We have indication that these detainees received assistance from individuals inside the department,” Hutson said.

Louisiana State Police located and apprehended Myles in the French Quarter, a busy tourist area in New Orleans, Sheriff Susan Hutson said during a 3:30 p.m. press conference. Authorities found the inmate underneath a parked car near the Hotel Monteleone, she said.

Local and state police are working with the FBI and United States Marshalls to find the remaining escapees.

How did the inmates escape?

Jail authorities said the group began making their escape at around 12:30 a.m. a few hours after lockdown at 10:30 p.m.

They began by pulling a “defective” sliding cell door off its tracks, according to Sheriff Hutson. At around 1 a.m. they breached a jail wall by ripping away a toilet and sink.

Security footage shows the men leave via a loading dock, scale a wall and then run across a nearby highway, she said.

Orleans Parish Chief of Corrections Jeworski Mallett said breaching the wall near the toilets would not have been possible without outside assistance.

Warrior Up Is Back

After a five year hiatus, Warrior Up is back. The intention of this project remains the same: to compile guides and practical information relevant to struggles against industrial devastation.

The ‘Arson‘ page compiles guides on setting fires. The ‘Sabotage Techniques‘ page compiles sabotage techniques for different types of infrastructure. The ‘Studying Vulnerabilities‘ page compiles analyses of how the megamachine functions and where it is vulnerable. The ‘Maps‘ page compiles mapping projects focused on infrastructure and extractive industries.

This project relies on submissions, so please send us content, including anything published years ago that we may have missed! We now use an Autistici email:

Orlando Man sentenced for threats, damaging energy facility over perceived Israel support – Orlando, FL

May 2, 2025

The U.S. Department of Justice says [name] was sentenced Thursday to six years in federal prison for threatening to use explosives and destruction of an energy facility.

According to the Justice Department, beginning around June 2024, [name] targeted and attacked businesses in the Orlando area for their perceived support for Israel. Prosecutors say he smashed glass front doors of businesses during the night.

Prosecutors say he also left behind “warning letters” addressed to the president of the United States and the United States government, in which he made a series of political demands, culminating in a threat to “destroy or explode everything here in whole America. Especially the companies and factories that support the racist state of Israel.”

At the end of June, [name] broke into a solar power generation facility in Wedgefield and systematically destroyed solar panel arrays, while leaving behind two more copies of his threatening demand letter, the news release states. The attacks caused more than $450,000 in damage.

[Name] was arrested on July 11, 2024, after another letter threatening to “destroy or explode everything” was found at an industrial propane gas distribution depot in Orlando.

fuck racists

For years, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a white supremacist group that exists to glorify slavery, organized a neo-Nazi rally in Stone Mountain Park with full state cooperation. They celebrate in a tacky and racist costume bought with the stolen riches of the Black and Indigenous peoples. White supremacists should not feel safe as long as they actively work for the destruction of our Black, Indigenous, queer safety. It is not difficult to find their emails, addresses and employers. Use the tools at your disposal (not just a useless rally) to prevent these fools from using public resources for shit. Let us completely stop their racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, homophobic and antisemitic beliefs.

At one point on the night of April 12, a group of people interested in achieving this goal visited one, Timothy Pilgrim, who is the commander of the Georgia division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans at his house in Marietta, GA, in the 20 Old Fuller Mill Road. We painted the sayings “NO RALLY” and “NO SCV” on their house, their windows and their entrance, we poured lawn killer in his front yard, stuck glue in his front lock, and left a piece of roadkill on his welcome carpet. We knew that these cowards would quickly move to cover their humiliation, so we also take photos to share them with you. Although the quality is low, we hope that our anger can be seen clearly.

House calls have long been one of the favorite tactics of South white supremacists. They used intimidation and humiliation to bully, threaten and sometimes even kill members of the community. Well, anarchists can also make house calls. Consider this our burning cross. CANCEL THE RALLY.
